DID’NT WE DO WALL AT THE USN WELSH CYCLING AWARDS 2013

Wales’ biggest cycling stars were honoured at the 2013 USN Welsh Cycling Awards, a glittering ceremony held to celebrate the success of athletes, clubs, and volunteers from across Wales over the last 12 months.

The award winners, associated with Abergavenny Road Club were:

Individual Race Organiser: Bill Owen, The Abergavenny Festival of Cycling

Coach of the Year: Stephen Lane, Abergavenny Road Club

Wiggle Project 2018 Overall Champions: Ffion James, Abergavenny Road club (Youth A), Megan James, Abergavenny Road Club (Youth B)
Outstanding Performance of the Year: Becky James, Abergavenny Road Club. Becky received the Outstanding Performance of the Year for her world class performance at the 2013 UCI Track World Championships, when she became the first Briton to win four medals at one championship.

Unsung Hero of Cycling: Reg Pharoah . At 79 years of age, Reg has volunteered many years of his life to assist in supporting cycling in Wales as a race marshal, event organiser and inspired dozens of cyclists as a positive role model in the cycling community. Reg lives in Govilon.

Lifetime Contribution to Cycling in Wales sponsored by USN: Bill Owen, CC Abergavenny. Bill Owen is the man behind the Abergavenny Festival of Cycling, the Iron Mountain Sportif and Wales’ first Paracycling Grand Prix.
