Abergavenny Velo Park – planning application available for public comment
The planning application for the proposed Abergavenny Velo Park is available for public comment.
If you participated in the consultation event before Christmas this was the ‘pre-application’ design stage before the planning application was finalised.
If you wish to express your support for this new regional cycling facility located in Abergavenny, you need to make your voice heard and submit comments directly to Monmouthshire County Council before the 17 June deadline.
The proposal is for a mix of cycling facilities focused around a 1km dedicated traffic-free circuit.
The site will be used for leisure, coaching, training and competitive cycling – including road, cyclocross and beginner-level mountain biking. It will also be available for other wheeled sports (e.g. wheelchair and Nordic skiing) and running. Street lighting will cover part of the circuit to allow its use during the evening.
The full application details and designs are available here https://planningonline.monmouthshire.gov.uk/online…/
Search for DM/2020/00400 and submit your comments or alternatively email planning@monmouthshire.gov.uk and use DM/2020/00400 as the subject of the email.
Let’s hope for a massive backing for this scheme from the Abergavenny cycling community !
