Dear members,
Just a reminder that Abergavenny RCs Reliability Trial takes place on Sunday 24th March 2013 - meeting at the Fairfield Car Park at 9.30am.
The term is historic and dates back to the early years of the 20th century when cycling equipment was less reliable, roads were rougher, routes were poorly sign-posted, and mobile telephones had yet to be invented. The name was a way of emphasising to the police, that the mass rides they might see were not race. A Reliability Trial is not a competitive ride, it is a social ride where all the riders remain together, and enjoy the camaraderie and esprit de corps that can be built up.
The Reliability Trial will hopefully foster interest in the weekly club runs.
CLUB RUNS The club runs take place each Sunday, all year round, whatever the weather and are the central activity of the Senior Section. There is interest in club runs but we need someone willing to coordinate and publish them (possibly via the website). If you are interested in being the point of contact for our club runs please contact myself or any committee member.
EVENING TIME TRIALS Mark Prosser has offered to organise the Club evening TTs this year. Let us hope that the weather will be excellent this summer, and that there is a good turn out from both Club members, and visiting riders. Details will be published on the club website - if you can help Mark please contact him, email: Mark.prosser@tiscali.co.uk
AND FINALLY Our own Superstar, Becky James will be dropping in to the Youth Section training session on Saturday 23rd March. The sessions are held each week on the red gras at King Henry V111School, Abergavenny, between 10.30 am and noon. All members, young or old, competitive or social are welcome to come and join us!!! Becky - I've copied you in just in case!!!
