Here’s a few things we did in 2015

Abergavenny Road Club is one of the foremost cycle clubs in Wales, supporting all cycling, on or off-road, competitive or social. Here’s a few things we did in 2015

In January we hosted the British Cyclocross Championships and were grateful for the help of 100 volunteers.
In May our riders won 5 categories at the Welsh MTB Champs in Dolgellau.
In June, The Deri Dash Hill Climb raised £3,500 for a local charity

In October, a record 65 riders raced in our club CX Championships, which were held during the Welsh CX event we promoted in Brecon. This event saw chip timing used for the first time, and some of the best cakes ever on sale (thanks to our volunteer bakers). We also had record numbers competing in the Welsh Cyclocross Championships

In November, at The Welsh Cycling Awards we won Club of the Year (for a third year in a row), Event Organiser of the Year for the CX Champs, while Ffion James won junior cyclist ofthe year. We were finallists in Go Ride Club of the Year and Coach of the Year (Paul Crapper). As a club with no facilities we do punch above our limitations.
We have offered weekly, Youth and Womens only sessions alongside discipline specific Cyclo-cross, MTB and closed circuits training. Each week 60+ young riders have fun at the red gra and through the generosity of volunteers they do this for free. We had two reliability rides this year!
We fully supported cycling, in Monmouthshire.
Three members competed on the international stage, Julian Winn is Head Coach of MTB at British Cycling and George North represented Wales in the rugby World Cup!!!
Our club has continued to grow and we ended the year with 320 members.
Thanks for your support and see you in 2016
