Go-Ride Programme

British Cycling’s Club Development Programme

Abergavenny Road Club is Registered as a Go-Ride Club, which means that we have all the documents and procedures in place to demonstrate that the club is run in a fair, ethical and sporting manner, with a club constitution, development plan and volunteers that are trained for the tasks they agree to take on. Equal opportunity, general safety, child safety (CRB checks are required) and respect for others are important values we sign up to with Go-Ride.

Go-Ride aims to improve youth cycling and clubs.  It is focussed on volunteers and young members, improving coaching standards and increasing the number of young riders with access to coaching activities.

Go-Ride is about fun, excitement, learning the skills to ride a bike safely and fast (if racing). Its kids cycling from a very early age, we have riders as young as 5 years old, right up to Junior level. Of course, the level of coaching is somewhat different, but we aim to make it exciting for all at our sessions.

We have links with local schools to promote youth cycling, which also provides an influx of new club members. We have a vision of more young people, more active, more often in cycling. We work in partnership with British Cycling, other local cycling clubs, schools, local authorities and other voluntary organisations.
